I am SO EXCITED for the Race for the Cure again this year! STL has a special place in my heart, being the location of my hospital and all my doctors who have worked so that I can HAVE the chance to be here each year. This will be my 3rd race and my 3rd as a Survivor. I can't tell you how moving it is to walk and celebrate with thousands of other breast cancer survivors. Thank you for all you do for each of us. I'm ready to start getting all my family and friends signed up!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited to not only be an Ambassador for Komen St. Louis and an active participant in the Komen St. Louis Race for the Cure, but because of this organization I am finding peace with loosing my best friend to this illness. People our age (early 30's) don't realize how serious this situation is. I myself did not until my best friend became ill. I didn't understand how it could take someone so wonderful but I know now that I have to continue to fight. I wrote this poem this morning as I was signing up our team for the race. I just wanted to share a snippet of it with you all. It's a piece I will be performing at our charitable event on race night....I hope you all enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI Fight....
I fight for the life of those who are weak from this.
For rights of those who stand in complete truimph from this.
For those who can't see this sickness.
Who are blinded by their belief that they can't get this sickness.
I fight for the belief that we can beat this.
I fight in the name of those who are deceased because of this.
I fight on my knees for peace from this.
Praising God every day for my ability to reach people thru this.
I fight for my friend who had to leave because of this sickness.
I LIVE THE FIGHT®.
With the strenght of millions women who have been diagnoised.
With the passion of the millions who will be cured.
With the persistance & determination of a stampede of angry bulls.
I fight with the concept that this is no longer a democracy but a dictatorship in which I run.
Removing its power to take over my spirit and replacing it with an angelic one.
I fight because I believe that I have already won.
I fight for my friend because there could never be another one!
